To read the time on this 24-hour clock, you have to get used to it. The hour hand only makes one turn a day. The background to this technology was the requirements of soldiers who, for example, served in submarines or researchers who had to know at any time in the Arctic whether it was day or night.

These clocks have also been useful in space. Hence the name of the series "Open Space". The Sturmanskie Open Space series is dedicated to the Soviet Voskhod-2 mission from 1965, which is also reflected on the case back.
